Our roots

The seed for Blue Marble Creative was sown back in 1999 in Boulder, Colorado, when Lisa Mullis established the freelance design business Spright Design. Lisa’s previous experience in creative direction and marketing in the education and LOHAS-oriented consumer goods sectors allowed her to build a client roster of health and sustainability-minded companies and a reputation for providing outstanding service and results. By the time Lisa moved the business to Hood River, Oregon, in 2005 she had created a full-service design studio that grew beyond her capacity to manage alone.

In 2007 Lisa met Christine Fisher on a New Year’s Day hike in the Cascades with mutual friends. Christine was a talented design student with previous careers in marketing and ecology, and ambitions of serving similar industries. Her fresh perspective and design skills complemented Lisa’s pragmatism and experience. In 2008, Spright Design became Blue Marble Creative, a name that reflects Lisa and Christine’s shared vision. Later that year, the company moved across the Columbia River to downtown White Salmon, Washington.

After three years in White Salmon, our group now includes 3-7 people, depending on our workload and projects. We have a close-knit team of talented local web developers, designers, and programmers who work on-site or come in regularly for meetings. We also have strong working relationships with copywriters, proofreaders, illustrators, specialized programmers, photographers, and video producers. We enjoy our current size and believe it allows us to deliver excellent value, quality, and well-rounded service to a select group of clients whose work we respect.
